Agronomic Recommandations

Seedling rates (kernels / ha)

  • Drought conditions : 55 000 to 60 000
  • Good conditions : 60 000 to 65 000

Fertilization :

  • Even if the sunflower needs are low to moderate, to avoid any fertilization is not suitable. Contact your local technician for advices
  • Specific of sunflower for each ton of grains is: 20-35 kg N; 3-7 kg P; 4-16 kg K. Fertilization scheme should be tailored based on the estimated grain yield, previous crop and soil fertility
  • Sunflower is sensitive to Boron deficiency, especially under drought and warm conditions. Prefer a Boron spraying at Tractor Path Limit (TPL)

Weeds and diseases management :

  • Contact your local technician for advices
  • Extend the crop rotations : 1 sunflower every 4 years
  • To control weeds & broomrape, follow the BASF recommendations
  • To control broomrape, imidazolinone herbicide application is recommended at stage of 6-8 leaves of the crop, dose: 1,2 l/ha.

Harvest:

  • Do not wait « over maturity » stage to harvest
  • Optimal harvest stage is between 9% and 11% grain moisture
